Project Description

USAID is the lead U.S. Government agency working to end extreme global poverty and enable resilient, democratic societies to realize their potential. In global health, together with partners, we are working to save the world’s children and mothers from preventable deaths, realize the promise of an AIDS-free generation, and keep the world safe and secure from infectious disease and emerging threats.

When mothers are healthy and when children thrive, the positive benefits last a lifetime. Whether it is helping to provide proper nutrition, or delivering a life-saving vaccine, or protecting newborns from infection, or treating diarrhea, pneumonia, and malaria, or providing options for family planning and reproductive health, or providing medicines to prevent bleeding during childbirth, these efforts contribute to ending preventable child and maternal deaths.
